Lee Broom

Lee Broom is one of the UK’s leading product designers and a premium global design brand. With his highly original brand of luxury furniture and lighting designs, his work is recognised and retailed across the globe. Since he founded the company in 2007, Broom has created over 100 furniture, accessory and lighting pieces, all of which are designed, manufactured and retailed under the Lee Broom brand. Broom has also designed products and interiors for other leading global brands including Christian Louboutin and Mulberry. Most recently Broom has created a prestige collection of Jasperware for British heritage brand Wedgwood, collaborated on the design of the prestigious 5th Avenue menswear windows for US department store Bergdorf Goodman and created an illuminated sculptural glass Christmas tree for contemporary British restaurant aqua shard. Broom’s designs combine craft, heritage and modernity and can be seen in restaurants, hotels and bars across the world as well as gracing magazine covers and newspapers internationally. They are at the same time unique and also familiar; taking classical styles and traditional materials Broom reinterprets them in new and contemporary ways always with an unexpected edge.

Having started out in theatre school, a beginning which has greatly influenced the sense of drama and narrative that his collections create, Broom’s career took a change of direction after he won a fashion design competition at the age of 17. This led him to meet and then go onto work for the legendary designer Vivienne Westwood, after which he studied for a degree in fashion design at Central St Martins. Fashion is still a great source of inspiration and The Guardian commented, “Lee Broom is to furniture what Marc Jacobs or Tom Ford are to fashion.” Taking inspiration from his background in fashion design, Broom strives to embrace and explore new themes whist keeping an overarching house style. Using the highest quality materials including marble from Carrara and crystal from the Czech Republic, Broom works with manufactures to constantly evolve and innovate and lead on traditional production techniques. Presenting his collections each year in Milan, New York and London Design Weeks, he has gained a reputation for creating conceptual dynamic installations which are surreal, experiential and always unexpected.

Making design a successful global business Lee Broom’s products are retailed in over 250 stores in 48 countries around the world alongside his own flagship showrooms in London and New York. Award winning, Broom has won over 20 awards to date including the prestigious British Designer of the Year Award in 2012 and The Queen’s Award for Enterprise presented by Her Majesty The Queen in 2015 at Buckingham Palace. Most recently Lee Broom was acknowledged as one of London’s most influential people by The London Evening Standard in their Progress 1000 list 2017.
