Designer as well as avid reader, Anthony Guerrée merged his two passions through a highly personal reading of In search of lost time, drawing a series of seats inspired by the main characters of Marcel Proust’s masterpiece. Charles Swann, Elstir, Odette de Crécy, Baron de Charlus or Monsieur Vinteuil : each of them comes alive with the face of a chair, a rocking-chair, a bench or a stool. Regarding Robert de Saint-Loup, Anthony Guerrée hence remembered the following extract of The Guermantes Way: "(…) While having to get behind his friends, Saint-Loup climbed on the rim of the back of a chair and came forward, poised, discreet clappings in the back of the room then rang out". One does not need more to picture this character, close friend of Proust, in the guise of this chair/stepladder, inaugural piece from the collaboration between Anthony Guerrée and Collection Particulière.
